How is Your Macula?

MD Awareness Week 2010.jpgMacular degeneration (MD) is the leading cause of blindness in Australia, affecting central vision. It is primarily age related with one in seven people over the age of 50 affected by the disease. If there is a family history of macular degeneration, people are 50 per cent more likely to develop the disease. Macular degeneration is sometimes referred to as Age Related Macular Degeneration or 'AMD'.

This week, Macular Degeneration Awareness Week is an important time to think about your eye health. Given early detection is critical to saving sight, the lack of symptom recognition could risk blindness.  Visit one of our branches today to get your macula checked.
